Stanton Glass Studio handcrafts leaded glass into inspired architectural windows and lighting. All designs are created in house by founder Bryant J. Stanton and artist Joe Barbieri. Guided by a collaborative approach, the company works directly with homeowners, architects and designers to create one-of-a-kind original designs for their custom projects. Each window is produced one at a time, with great attention to detail. Through good design and innovative fabrication, Stanton Glass Designs proudly offers a refreshing approach to this 800 year old craft. What makes our work unique: We buy our glass directly from manufacturers and local distributors that import hundreds of varieties of glass from all over the country and Europe. We are constantly looking for the unusual and unique to create our own original palette. We offer a clear glass that is handmade by craftsman with the same time proven techniques used before the advent of modern window glass. Slight distortions, occasional pits and imperfections make it the ideal choice for our work. In all of our work the needs of the site and preferences of the client determine whether we use transparent, translucent or opalescent glass. Designs may incorporate hand-painted, beveled, etched or cast glass to enhance the window design. Our approach is to tie interior elements together, keeping in mind the space as a whole. We want our work to be in concert with other furnishings and to suit the personality of each client rather than be a statement about our abilities as glass artists.
How does the design process work?: For all projects we request a $500 design deposit to reserve a place on our schedule. After determining the type of work needed, a web page is then created for you to review your design options. Once a design is chosen, an installment of one third the agreed upon price is required to initiate an order, another third is requested at the half way point with the balance due before delivery.
How much will this cost? Pricing for our custom work is based on several factors: -the amount of time spent developing the project -the complexity of the design -the cost of materials Šthe medium used in making your window, such as; hand-painted, etched, hand-beveled, cast glass or a combination of glass techniques. Size has little to do with price, except in relation to materials cost. A large, simple design may cost less than a smaller, complex design. For this reason we cannot offer accurate estimates based on size or design idea alone. How long will this take? Commissioned designs average between 4-6 weeks and longer for large projects. Will I have to take the existing glass out of my window and replace it with a leaded glass panel? It depends on the project. We recommend replacing the original pane of glass with a leaded panel so one can appreciate the quality of the materials and craftsmanship from both sides. Often, people prefer to leave existing glass in place as it provides a weatherproof and airtight barrier. Factors such as direct weather, hail, street noise and how long you plan to stay are also considered. How do I pay? We accept cash, checks, and money orders. What about shipping? For local projects we can deliver at an additional charge. For our out-of-town clients we ship small and medium size projects via UPS. Large projects are crated and shipped by a national freight company that specializes in handling delicate items. All shipping arrangements are between the client and the shipping company whom bills the client directly. Thanks for your interest in our work. This information will help you understand how to go about placing an order for our glass work. From initial inquiry to the delivery of finished product, we have established a system that will let you know what to expect and when to expect it. We find that our studio setting enables us to give each project and client individual attention and that we are able to serve you better by getting you handmade, individually crafted art glass unlike any available.
Step 1 Most projects start with a consultation either over the phone, here in our studio or via email. Design possibilities are discussed and with the submission of dimensions, a price range can be given. Unless you are ordering an existing design we can only provide a price range. Lead time and shipping and crating estimates (if needed) are given.
Step 2 If you’d like to proceed, a $500 deposit will reserve a place on our production schedule. If you are going to commission a custom design an Agreement for Professional Services is sent for you to sign which states that you understand how we invoice for custom design time. We will also send you an order form that will explain how to measure for your windows. Photographs, elevations and any design resources should be received at this point.
Step 3 Before your scheduled production time Bryant Stanton will contact you to go over the specifics of your design. A website will be created for you to view the design process. A glass sample set appropriate for your project is sent for you to review.
Step 4 Once we have agreed on design and glass choices an Agreement of Terms is sent for you to sign and return. Once a design is chosen, an installment of one third the agreed upon price is required to initiate an order, another third is requested at the half way point with the balance due before delivery.
Step 5 After fabrication has been completed, the remaining 1/3 less the original $500 deposit is due as are any shipping and crating charges. Your order will then be shipped to you or delivered.
Step 6 For installation we offer consultation free of charge to the person doing the work or you can hire us to handle the installation.
