Joe Barbiieri recently completed this hand-painted baptistry window for Salem Baptist Church in Teague, Texas. Nathan Stanton, Stanton WoodWorks, built the frame and lightbox for the window. The simple, elegant design focuses on Jesus’ outstretched arms, beckoning the congregation to come nearer to him.
“We are delighted with the beautiful window and I was especially impressed that the window fit perfectly. The frame slid in with no margin of error and looks like it was made for the opening. The design and craftsmanship are exceptional and this is an heirloom piece we will pass to our children. You can sit at our table and “hear” the water.”

In the past 30 years I (Bryant J. Stanton) have never really designed a opalescent glass “landscape ” window let alone a Tiffany Style landscape window. So when I was commissioned to do a water scene I had a lot of trepidation that it could really turn out one of two ways, really great or be really bad. After making several sketches I settled on a autumn scene with a waterfall. The client wanted to add water flowers in the foreground so it is a fall scene with blooming tropical flowers. I thought you all would enjoy seeing a traditional window from us for a change.
I was walking across my yard Friday while it was snowing here in Waco. I looked up at the fall colors in the trees contrasted by my red tropical hibiscus in full bloom – so, fall colors and tropical flowers do work together even in the snow. The hibiscus is now frozen and dead; winter is here. Good thing stained glass flowers don’t die in the winter.
If you missed the open house, then you missed seeing these incredible, abstract fused glass art wall hangings Bryant loosed his creativity on recently. Nathan Stanton, Stanton WoodWorks, designed and built the modern walnut and maple banded frames they appear to float in. Each piece is vibrant, colorful and seems to move before your eyes as you look at. There are countless scenes captured in each piece that can be discovered, like staring at clouds and seeing animals frolicking in the sky. The pieces look amazing as a whole, or make a bold statement on their own, for a home, office or place of worship. Each unique piece is approximately 20″ x 22″ in a black walnut dove tailed frame with an inlaid raised rock maple accent around the perimeter of the frame. Each fused panel is 1/2″ thick.
“This falling leaf design is an extension of my tumbling leaves in the wind windows and bowls. The theme or statement of purpose is time passage or simply change. Life changes. Each year I watch as the leaves change color and fall to the earth marking another year has passed by. Robert Frost wrote ‘… I have safely trodden underfoot the leaves of yet another year…’” Bryant says about the pieces. “The squiggles and curved pieces are the energy of the wind and give motion. The shiny metallic looking blue and silver glass is Dichroic glass as well as the reddish leaves.”

SGS hosted our fall open house last weekend and I think it’s safe to say that everyone had a blast. Thank you, friends, for coming out and enjoying the weekend with us. We made new friends and loved connecting with current friends. Blow-Your-Own-Ornament was a huge sucess and everyone loved getting to play a part in making a unique gift for their loved ones or themselves. The weather was beautiful on saturday, after the showers on friday, and cool enough that the furnaces in the hot glass shop felt good. If you weren’t able to make it out for the open house, we still have blown glass vessels and ornaments, fused glass pieces, and small stained glass windows available for purchase, as well as Blow-Your-Own-Ornament gift certificates. Contact us 254-829-1151 and we can send you photos. Here are some fun pictures from the open house: Jordan and his brothers blowing glass, and helping kids blow, Michele making glass beads, and Michele’s Christmas wreaths accented with Jordan’s glass ornaments.

Bryant has been experimenting lately with fusing glass, a type of glass art that doesn’t use lead, but melts the different layers of glass together in a kiln. He recently completed these gorgeous fused glass wall hangings. We are working on getting them framed, but we wanted you to be able to see them as soon as possible! These 16″ by 19″ pieces incorporate dichroic glass, a highly reflective glass developed by scientists at NASA. Call or email us if you are interested in these exquisite pieces; 800.619.4882 or info@stantonglass.com. Bryant can also create a custom design for your home, office or church.
