The Driskill Hotel

Austin, Texas

 

When the $35 million restoration of the historic Driskill Hotel in downtown Austin began in 1998, Stanton Glass Studio was commissioned to design and make numerous glass projects throughout the hotel. Doors, windows, signs and even an etched glass top for a grand piano. Stanton Glass Studio designed, fabricated and installed what has now become the "crown jewel" of† The Driskill Hotel, The Driskill Dome. Stanton's desire when designing the dome was to give the appearance that the Dome had been apart of the Driskill from its opening in 1886. Guests revisiting the hotel, have been overheard while standing under the dome, "my wife and I remember this stained glass dome from our honeymoon 50 years ago" The dome had just been installed.
